I agree with Namiro. Your render is very good, but it would be excellent with a nicer floor texture.

I agree as well. The stone texture is there as a placeholder until I fins something better. Does anyone have a suggestion?

That's weird, that's not how one is supposed to model a water pool but it sure is looking good !

It works as long as the camera is above the water surface. If I want a picture from inside the pool, I'd have to make it a closed volume.

Okay, as I said it's looking good...

in my mind an open surface with a specular material applied would render black, I never suspected that cluttering another open volume with it would address that issue...

look at old renders... for some reasons, they do. but it doesn't really look correct, especially, if you use super-accurate water (tabulated spectra ^^)

Right, I runned a quick test and while with the plane setup one can tint the water, it's absorbtion will remain null in regard with depth in water. So it's a good model if you want no absorbtion at all, just tinted water. It renders faster than the realistic model of course.

That was just a parenthesis, I was not sure about what was going on Olis :)

It seems like the grout border around the grey paver texture tile is wider than the other grout lines? Also, it seems like the grey paver texture could align with the edges of the pool? :D
