speed problem [problem SOLVED] ThX y all

Post by qomop » Sun Feb 01, 2009 12:25 am

hi all
I have been using indigo 1.0.9_3 since a while, untill yesterday, and i downloaded 1.1.15 but i have the following problem, and i hope you can help me fixing this error, or telling me what i am doing wrong

i have an interior scene with lightings, and it works perfectly in 1093 When I try to render it in 1115, there are no lights at all, whatever the settings, although the Tutorial with the small lamp works!

i reassigned all the materials in 1115. (exterior scenes work perfectly by the way)! my only problem is lights in this new version. if someone could help me please

Thanks, qomop

hi again

i rendered simple scenes with single light, more simpler than the one above, and it works but it is EXTREMELY slow

in 1093 i could see the scene after almost 1 minute rendering, and with my 1115, setted exactly like I used to do, it takes something like 20minutes and the scene still looks weird. although i test in very low resolution (400x200)

i am still managing to see what i can be doing wrong... if anyone could tell me if he has the same problem?

here is a quick view of what i tested : i thought maybe changing tracing method would fix my problem, but still not.

these are 40 minutes rendering!
whereas in 1093 i had this state in 10 seconds.
i ll download the package again maybe it will change somthing if the one i had was damaged...

EDIT : i tryed again with new pack, nothing... by the way, exterior renders are AWESOME fast!! good Job!

hi again
so i fixed the problem, i downloaded 1.1.16 and it works but i still noticed that it is slower whi i render scenes such as exactly the one above (room) than in 1.0.9_3

is there a reason why? although Exterior Scenes are AWESOME fast! interior are quite slower.
I ll post samples at many states of this interior scene render later because for the moment i haven t rendered more than 40 minutes long with 1116

so these are diffferent renders at same time
same scene or same type : interior with multiple light sources

according to the Advanced feature tutorial i setted the tracing method to Bidirectional for interior scenes, but since there are many direct lights and indirect lights i tryed both methods and i will try hybryd later

I started tryng interior scenes with lights this week so i don t know how to set correctly if somone can give me advice, but in my opinion, Bidirectional PT has been the fastest and the more accurate since i use Indigo.

here are both renders at almost 9h of rendering

i changed point of view but since it is the same room and same light setting and almost same distance from all light sources it shouldn t afffect so much rendering time.

wouldn't it be better if you pasted this in the main indigo forums, because you are more likely to get a detailed answer or more responses there, seeing as this doesn't seem directly related to skindigo...

Most probably the scale has changed by a magnitude between renders ? Scale was not mentioned so I'd check that too...

Ctzn : what is the scale? sorry i don t understand. you mean the render output? it was the same for all : 1374X630, for final tests i always set it to "view" in sketchup

Yep, I'm not a SKIndigo user but this kind of issue was observed when scale was changed by mistake. So that was just a small hint.

Isn't there a global scene scale parameter in Skindigo?
I'm sure there is.
