Emitters?

Post by mrCarnivore » Mon Jan 05, 2009 11:51 am

What material type do a give emitters in blendigo 1.1.14?

I tried using a scene I set up with blendigo 0.8 something... it says, scene must contain at least one light source...

Probably because your Environment is set to "Physical Sky & Sun" switch it to "None (lit by mesh emitters)"

As for material types, there are a few.

I've switched to emitters, but I cannot select "Emitter" as Material Type any more, as I could with previous versions of blendigo.... Did something change and the lights have to be set up differently?

Like I said earlier a few material types can be used as emitters. There is "emitter" material type, you go to another material type, for example diffuse, and turn on the "emitter" option by clicking on the emitter button.

Are there any tutorials available to show the proper way to Set Up Emitters in the newer versions of Indigo? Before, you just set a mesh as an Emitter and set the power level. With the new method, I can't seem to figure it out to save my life.

I tried rendering an older seen I had and no matter what I seem to do, all I get is a combination of Total Blackness, Totally washed out or "No light source" errors. Is there a way to set up an Emitter that mimics the older mesh Emitters we used to use?

OK... Made some progress on Emitters.

One thing that I've learned is that they can no longer be single planes. They will emit light, but will not show up in reflections....weird.

The only way I could get an Emitter to work the way I wanted was to hack the IGS file. The Max Emission Scale value of 200000 was never strong enough. Even when I was using an RGB emitter with a Gain of 9 and Multiplier of 10^ 10, it still would only render a very weak light. I finally just hacked Blendigo to allow values of 0 - 20000000.

I have my Emitters back! :D
