I know. It wasn't really a questionBorgleader wrote:doublez wrote:I use a pentium 4 so I guess I would be fine?OnoSendai wrote: For Intel CPUs, this is equivalent to requiring a Pentium 4 or above.
SSE2
Dunno... try CPU-Z to find out...Borgleader wrote:What is required for SSE3?Juniorsatan wrote:+1Kram1032 wrote:Don't have a prob for up to SSE3

Pentium D and newer have SSE3, and i think the last pentium 4s did but not all of them.
Yes i know, my spelling sucks

No problem, here. Keep the work, Ono.

There's lots of versions who do support pre-ss2 processors, indigo is a demanding render engine sacrificing speed so that 'ancient' machines can take advantage of it is counterproductive. It can always be seen as an incentive to upgrade, and if you don't you can always run pre ss2 versions.
I'm on with Deus on this one

Using Pentium III's to render with Indigo is getting you nowhere... unless you want to wait a few weeks for a noise free rendering...
Hey don't get me wrong, I'm not discussing wether Indigo must evoluate or not ! I have even not said Deus was wrong, but I found the manner hurting.
In 1789, people were starving in France. The queen said: "If they are hungry, why don't they just eat pancakes" then laughed. We know what happened to her...
I found Deus intervention just as relevant as Marie-Antoinette's one.
Now I'll be stuck when SSE3 will be required. Then I may kill a bourgeois - hah, kidding ! - and buy myself a nowadays comp.

I think my remark was very productive. Sacrifice something for the greater good. Great engineering is always about tradeoffs. I'm not being arrogant just realistic with a good rationale.
I think however there is good middle ground. Either Ono releases a "compatible version" without any strange haxx or just add the optimizations to the 64 bit build and not 32 bit. The poor guys with ancient PCs wont run 64 bit OS:es anyway... I hope... Im not even running that piece of junk vista.. Can't wait until Win7
