Zen Stones

Post by Phr0stByte » Fri Aug 08, 2008 11:51 pm

Nothing complicated here - just a simple scene to wet my appetite for Indigo after not using it for ages. Stone mat is ARK's formed concrete from the Indigo mat db. Scene is still cooking, as it is rendering at a huge 3264x3264

Thanks - but there is no Blend file, as it is from Maya. I will see about exporting it and setting it up exactly the same in Blender for you though... Stay tuned

The lighting is very simple though - just two mesh lights (orange and blue) and a exr for global lighting

Of course you need to convert it to EXR
I use an Windows free version of an application that works well under WINE for this called Photomatix

All your base are belongs to meshLights+HDRI lightning combo in Indigo

You have to take care that the mesh light don't kill the power of your env_map.
Simply test with a mirror ball and tweak your env_map/lighsource power to fit!

I'm telling you, because its hard to see the influence of an env_map here... but maybe its just me :)

Yeah, you are right - and the env map might not even be needed, but I was happy with the end result, so didn't mess around further :)

Simply test with a mirror ball and tweak your env_map/lighsource power to fit!Must add that you will have much more consistent results if you DON'T use reinhard for this initial step.
