Sorry but...I still haven't found how to set up displacement material,,,,I created a basic c4d material with diffuse color map, bump map, finally the displacement map and then converted material. Is that right? what kind of material type is best for the floor and which parameters should I use? Thanks a lot, best regards!

i uploaded an example file a few pages ago(LINK).

yes, you did it right so far. you might want to raise the b/c values of the diplacement a bit, to see some visible displacement.
also keep in mind that your model might need a subdivision tag (cindigo tags->subdivision tag).

if your global scale is != 1 you should calculate your displacement value like this:

b = displacement in m, eg 0.1 for 10cm.
b = b / global scale

Hmm I got weird, but not random crashes. I got one scene where Indigo quits at warm up process at a curvature_threshold 0.02, but if I use 0.01, which leads to far more triangles at subdivison progress, it starts perfectly. :oops:

Had some displacement issues depending on scene size, but I figured out just to increase displacement values instead of scale my whole scene :oops: :lol:

i decided that the next cindigo will export all meshes scaled by global scale and not to use indigos scale factor anymore.

edit: you MUST re-export the whole scene when you change the gsm then.

@fused:

Are the Bump and displacement measures alike?

From my experience if I want to do a 10mm displacement and 1mm bump, and given that my GS is 0.001 I would need to set displacement to 10 and bump to 0.001.

MO the displacement shouldn't be related to GS, otherwise if I put the material into the database I won't be using the standard meter, this case my 10mm displacement would represent 10m.

im not sure about bump... but with displacement i think i explained that to you already, didnt i? :)

yeah, its connected to global scale. to get the right vaule you have to do:
value / global scale

ono told me once, that bump will most likely behave like displacement, but he wasnt sure about it.

all this is one reason why ill export meshes scaled in the futurem and not using the scale factor.

edit: and yes, on first thought the scale factor shouldnt be related to displacement. but it is and somehow (hear me, ono? ;) ) it does makes sense...
you wont have this problem in the next version of cindigo.

You explained me already :) still the reason bump has a different way of behaving no one has. I cannot figure it out by myself. Then we have the unit issue problem, but if you say that will be gone...

Cheers
