In most distros, you can just double-click it, and unpack it from there.
Or type
Code: Select all
tar -xvzf filename.tar.gz
But it's most likely to be source code and not precompiled.
Just Google around for some guides on how to compile stuff on Mandriva.
I found this guide:

There are Fedora rpm's over at http://www.digitalruin.net/
You might be able to get the rpm's working on Mandriva without any tweaking, but if not, a src.rpm is provided that will enable you to build on your own platform. Once you have the necessary development tools (gcc gcc-c++) just run rpmbuild --rebuild xxx.src.rpm
Depending on the differences between Mandriva and Fedora it might work right away, or you might have some issues.
