Freedom of speech
This is an early render of the scene. I'm still not happy about the lighting. It needs fixing. and some of the textures as well. The concrete texture is one of BbB's (which I found on his website I believe).
I also don't like how the window uv turned out (even though I scaled it down much in the uv panel it still looks like it's compressed).
OH and it's missing a major component, and that's due to my major inability at character modeling. It's supposed to have a dog lying there, next to the bowl, but yeah...couldn't do anything that looked even close to a dog. I was thinking of putting a bed too, but I'm not sure yet.
One last point, I was hoping to re-create this effect so that the "ray of light" would hit the are where the dog is but it hasn't quite worked out yet.

Yes I know that's where I got the settings for the SSS material. I'm probably not getting the same results because I'm not using a sun light (or maybe just because there are many bars in the window)doublez wrote:Here's the tutorial on how to create that picture you posted...

Your exit portal only needs to be a plane covering the hole of the window. Anything behind it won't be seen, but it needs to be over lapping the wall a little bit. Also make sure the normal is facing into the room.
Try using just a sun (no emitters) at
-6.788
8.177
4.243
rotation
-70.658
6.473
47.211
It renders to slow and takes up to much power on my computer or else I would try it my self.
Also make the SSS box smaller. Make it just a little bigger than the room on all sides (after you delete the emitters).

The pic shoes everything I said. I would try rendering with an exit portal and without.
