the strange (well, maybe not THAT strange^^) thing is, that you can't find any good reference shots, with a closeup of the structure. Only lots of shots from things, made of velvet or partly with velvet.... Or women who lack of velvet or anything that'd come close to it

Wich means: anisotropic. That's why the effect is so hard to catch, and bump mapping strictly necessary.BbB wrote:depending on the angle...
Velvet is silk, basically, isn't it ? I have a synthetical sample in front of me, it's quite old and it appears that the threads are sewed on a rather specular surface (a synth fabric). This substrate can be also determinant for the final appearence...
