implemented some animation support today :)
it will be in the next update.

heres a very simple test (63 frames @ 21 fps, each frame rendered to 100spp):

Hi fused.

That looks promising !

I have just registered and wanted to say Thank You for all the work you put in this exporter.

One question:
Is there a normal smoothing problem with meshlights or could I have done something wrong ? I get bands on spheres that I assigned the light tag to. These are only visible when the camera is farther away from the light.

:) welcome!

about the normal smoothing problem:

can you post a render? try setting the phong angle to ~30°.

Here is a view where the camera has some distance to the spheres. When the camera is close, the rings are not visible. When I changed the angle to 30° in the phong tag, it had no obvious effect.
Might be a bit hard to see (I used your new preset Halogen 28W).

The left sphere is parametric (I think this played a role in an earlier version).

parametric spheres with a light tag get converted to polygon spheres. sphere primitives can't be meshlights (since the are no meshs).

try increasing the segments or delete the phong tag (disables normal smoothing).

if that doesnt solve your problem... i have no idea :)

Well, if I remove the phong tags, it looks just the same, so usually I would say that meshlights ignore phong smoothing but on the other hand I looked at the galleries and all the meshlights there are perfectly smooth.

When increasing the subdivision, the pattern changes but does not go away.

I also tried with and without the new export algorithm, that did not help, too.

Am I the only one encountering this iusse ?

So finally I will get a lava lamp for my desk :D

I suppose that we will have to set the samples per pixel in advance, or will there be a function to tell indigo to stop rendering the current image and render all consecutive frames until the same quality is reached ?

Regarding the meshlights:
Turning off efficacy scale made the lights very bright so the problem was almost invisible, but still there, I think (tonemapping might reveal it). It is not that much of a problem since in most scenes the meshlight will be hidden somehow.

you'll have to set halt spp or halt time.

If he means the darker spots on the top perhaps it could be from the triangles at the poles of standard spheres.

"C 4", perhaps you could try to set the sphere type in c4d to hexahedron and check if that helps. In that case your sphere would be consist of quad polys only.

But I don't really know if that's the point, it's just an idea.

Hi Phoenix,

I am also talking about the darker bands around the spheres, you might have to turn down your monitor brightness to see them better. Changing the type of the sphere creates another less regular pattern.

@fused:
If that's no Cindigo bug I don't want to hijack your thread. If nobody can confirm my problem I will open a separate thread for this.

np, at least a bit activity :)

but i dont think this is a cindigo bug...

edit: before opening a new thread... maybe its connected to tonemapping. try linear or camera!

oh, the new version is nearly ready. just need to do some testing.
