Alys Beach Middle School

Post by StompinTom » Sun Apr 13, 2008 6:23 am

hey hey
i havent posted anything in a ridiculously long amount of time because ive been way too busy with school and life and havent been able to create anything for fun.
here are some renderings of my final project for this semesters studio, in which we were to propose a middle school for Alys Beach (www.alysbeach.com), a nice little community on the beach in Florida. i figured id show em to you guys for some crits n such because i did them with Blender and Indigo over the course of the past week.
the reason theyre small and grainy and not very detailed is because design changes happen pretty much every couple of hours and the model needs to reflect that and also because this is only a small component of the final presentation: im pretty much married to AutoCAD now. its also not a review of my viz skillz so as long as i get the overall impression across, everything is fine and dandy.

so this model in its current state is the result of the past 4 or 5 days of frantic work.

hope you like!

Dang, these are nice. They look like professional concept renders. That's an interesting concept for a school(?). It looks like elevated classrooms and a variety of common areas.

on the third and fourth render, the sky is partly overexposure and on all of them, vignetting is a bit strong. Else, those are just amazing! Good job!

That's a school?!
On my old school we were happy if there weren't hobos on the hallways. Haha.

Anyway, really sweet renders, i especially the 4 ones.
Professional quality all of them.

I like it too, but I prefer the 1st and 2nd pics to be my favourites. The school looks very detailed in these ones, I really would like to see the high-res renders of these 2 views. :)

Great Work !

From a crit/architectural presentation point of view, they all look great, I really like the first two.

I wish I were back in studio!!! :D

hey guys! thanks a ton for the nice comments!

had my crit and, as usual, they found things to bitch about but it went very well for the most part. now just one more paper and im done for the summer and im obviously pretty excited for that.

rendertimes were about 10-12 hours for each (hogging like 5 computers in the labs definitely pissed some people off!).

now that ill have some actual free time, hopefully ill get some new personal stuff started!

thanks again!
