Problem with rendering mesh objects

Post by eugeneh » Sun Apr 13, 2008 10:39 am

Hello All, I'm very much an Indigo noob, so I'd appreciate any help you can give.
I followed the mti (Maya to Indigo) setup tutorial, and it seems like everything was installed correctly. However, when exporting to render within Maya, I get this error whenever I render mesh objects:

"Indigo - Fatal Error"
"IndigoDriverExcep: SceneLoaderExcep: CSModelLOaderExcep: ModelFormatDecorderExcept for model 'r:\scenes\objs\1\-Mesh-MeshShape.obj'. could not open file 'r:\scenes\objs\1\-Mesh-MeshShape.obj' for reading. (In element 'mesh', around line 90, column1)"

Does anyone have any idea what this means? Please give any advice you can, as this renderer looks fantastic, and I'm just itching to do some tests!
Thanks for reading.

Hi there,
Glad you managed to install it OK - that's normally the trickiest part.

Can you verify that r:\scenes\objs\1\-Mesh-MeshShape.obj exists?

Did you try to either
1) export the scene again
2) run the render batch file manually (r:\scenes\mti_SCENENAME_run.bat)
3) run indigo manually, and manually load the IGS file (r:\scenes\SCENENAME.igs)

does the same error come up every time?

Also, double-check that you have the objExport plugin in Maya enabled. That tripped me up in the beginning...

Thanks so much for the quick replies Dougal2 and Phr0stByte.
Sorry, but I think I have another basic question then. When I "Export" from within the mti plugin interface, should both an *.igs AND *.obj file(s) be created? Or, am I supossed to individually export from Maya via its Wavefront(.obj) myself?

And dougal2,
1) Yes, but with no success.
2) I'm too much of a novice to manually render a batch file (for now!)
3) And yes, when running Indigo directly, I still have the same problem.

Thanks again!

RESOLVED!
Thanks a lot guys. Stupid beginner issue, but I didn't set a path correclty on my MTI options, as well, I didn't check "SaveObjs."
