tinted, frosted glass

Hi all,

I am having problems with making a tinted frosted glass material? Should I create glossy transparent material and as a medium use Medium basic? I tried changing a color of a absorption coefficient value but it does not influence the color at all.

Speaking of a glass, there is another effects I am trying to recreate. If you look at the edge of a thin glass pane it gets very dark. It is I suppose because of some absorption process going on. How can I control this effect and how do I contrlo the color of the absorbtion. Is absorption coefficientresponsible for that and should I use glossy transparent material for that?

You may consider this a cheat, but I find a very fine noise in the bump channel the quickest way to create a frosted look. so make a coloured glass of the tint you want then apply the bump....

Sure you can make tinted frosted glass without using a bumpmap:



The thickness of the glass pane is 1 cm.

That is a really cool looking example, very nice.

Yet another way (though I think yours still looks very cool, just including this for completeness) is to use a blend of a diffuse transmitter and a phong mat, as described here (scroll down for the mat settings used there).
