A first render

Post by Grimm » Mon Dec 31, 2007 1:38 pm

Well not the first. :) Just the first one I thought I could share. It's an image of a Egyptian tomb opened after being closed up for 3000 years. I'm just learning Blender and Indigo so not much going on in the image. The little mesh light in front of the door is/was going to be a lantern being held by a hand and arm coming through the hole in the door. I though I had set the statue to smooth but it doesn't look like it took. :( Anyone know of some good Egyptian meshes and textures? Any tips and criticisms welcome, thanks,

Grimm

hi!
wow i think it has a good atmosphere! How did you make the particles in the air, some kind of sss medium ? And you should absolutely build a sarkophag and place it near this statue!

It looks really good, except a little to clean. There should be chipped edges and stains, etc.

Happy new year!!

Thanks dadaP and doublez, it's definitely a work in progress. :) Yes the particles are an sss medium, although I'm not sure if I did it correctly. A lot of options, most of which I have no clue to how they work or what they do. :? Like is there a way to perturb the sss material and make it more uneven?

doublez - Yes, I agree, much too clean. It's all a reflection of my ignorance of Blender and Indigo then what I would like to do. :)

Thanks again,

Grimm

Thanks Vanessa,

Thanks for the links on how to do displacement as well, although I need to get some more experience to be comfortable with it. I have been working a bit more on the tomb here is an update. I still need to work on the bricks in the doorway and more objects to put in the tomb.

Thanks Kram,

I think I'm going to leave it at this state for now. I need to get a better grasp of Blender's modeling tools, etc so I can add more objects into the tomb. And better textures. I will come back to it later, right now I have some other idea's bouncing around in my head.
