ok I have another question:
what is the relationship between the rgb colour for gamma 1 and gamma 2.2?
ie are the gammas related by exponential factor or something...
EDIT: ok found it on wikipedia  will see what I can do..

ok here's a trial - its built on the Solidworks variant ATM cos I am more familiar with looking at it
the variant isnt all up to date and the includes stuff only mostly works and it has different previews arrangements so it is of limited use for usual users but you should be able to test the sss and absorb gamma with it
if it works  and its what you want I'll try to make a similar thing for blendigo

EDIT removed as served purpose - not intended for real use

hmm only one reply out of 8 downloads I guess people arent really that interested?

@SURFING well it hasnt been that way before..
I suppose I could do a hack to make it lighter or darker based on the gain..but it would be an approximation..
just using the preview sphere it seemed a gain of 3 or so matched fairly well the colour displayed and rendered for absorption..and a gain of 100 for sss

the way these are set up is slightly backward too - cos you enter the opposite colour you see  or at least I think its that way in smartdens blendigo
I am not sure there is any good way to arrive at a WYSIWYG for all situations
suggest you use the material preview to get things right before you render your full scene

absorbtion / SSS gain can't really be predicted that way: it depends on the thickness of an object...

true kram ...hmmm maybe I will make a bigger object for one of my previews..

ok well I am not sure if the silence is because people dont want this , or it isnt right or they dont care or...I guess I'll leave it then for smartden to tackle at a later date

well I am sure its not like people didnt see it
it wasnt for ongoing use - only feedback on a gamma solution
how many times a day are you here for instance..
or many other names I see in who is visiting
I'll bet 50 Blendigoists passed over it
only one person ( the original asker) says anything
Even kram says nothing about it so I guess he didnt bother either?
although I tried to give him a preview solution he thought would be a good idea
What would you make of that in my position?
does it look like users would like this or not?
these things take time to do :?
if there is no thumbs up feedback on stuff I am not going to spend even
more time putting it into smartdens blendigo and risk upsetting him and others for doing so

for some reason Blender scene files take much longer to warmup and get to rendering than ones generated by SKindigo and Cindigo

I wonder if its the XML format used rather than IGS...

or something else....

Perhaps there's more data exported to warm up?
