Have a scene that needs a REALLY long time to resolve?

Post by Lord of the Rings Junkie » Wed May 02, 2007 8:06 am

I'm going to be gone from the 8th of this month to the 16th, so my computer will be doing pretty much nothing during that week. If one person has a scene that they really want to render but would tie up their computer a lot longer than they would like, I'd be willing to let it render that entire week. The scene would have to be compatible with 0.7 final. Lemme know if anyone is interested. :)

P.S. My machine is a 3.2 Ghz P4 with hyper-threading, so it's not slow.

Would be great if we had access to a super render farm with ssh login and send all our stuff to it 8)

I already wanted to add a thread as a "service"...

People send zips with their scene (best would be, final .igs and such), other people DL and render it...

Once upon a time I tried this via Hamachi and set the upload rate to every 20 or 30 minutes or whatever and it worked a-okay. :)

Anyway, if anyone wants to take me up on the offer just post in this thread to let me know by the 7th. Make it serious, kay? I don't want to render a chrome sphere on a checkerboard pattern for a week.

I read the question as do I have a render worth processing for a week?

I say no because I am never satisfied with my work. Instead of letting it render for a week, I would instead work on it for another week and then be in the same place because it is my infinite loop.

That means that Lord of the Rings Junkie should leave in another week so you have that extra week to work in your scene.........

that's just a kind offer!

He will be away at 7th, one week from then, and he'd render a pic the whole week ;)

Lord of the Rings Junkie: definately save the igi!
Then, the sender of the scene will be able to go on, even further :D
