Re: Some new work
Nice! That ceiling paint material is insane
Re: Some new work
I had hoped to enter the Indigo 4 competition, but time (as ever) got away from me. I got half a day over the weekend to finish what I had been working on, and well... I had exactly zero chance of getting this in the same galaxy as a 5mb .PIGS! 256mb... anyway, I thought it was a nice enough image so here it is!
At least my sideboard isn't lonely anymore!

Wonderful...funny and sad at the same time!

Wow, this lightbulb is really great! Self made model?
24 hours isn't enough

All modelled except the bulb! Just got it off 3d Warehouse. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/ ... dison-lamp
They all render very well.

Re: Some new work
Absolutely gorgeous concept and execution!
Re: Some new work
Could you share the workflow you used for the pipes figure?
Re: Some new work
It's really a very simple model. I saw an image of a similar lamp on google which gave me the idea, and then I modelled just 5 components;
90deg
45deg
'T'
'X'
Straight
I then just rotated legs and arms until they fitted into the scene.
I am going to have to re-render now tho as I've just seen some horrible smoothing on one of the arms, that I don't know how I missed!!!

Re: Some new work
The material itself is very well done indeed! It's the magic of light or is it sort of an "advanced" shader?
I already spotted the "bad" smoothing but I thought it was something wanted, like it happened for the elder pipes!

Re: Some new work
'advanced' shader remember who you taking about here! to me ISL is Indigo's Stupid Language!! It's just a blend material between 2 colours! one light with specular and a small bump and one dark diffuse with a slightly larger bump. I used a grungy image as a blend map. But I'm glad you like it!!
I'm glad someone else spotted the smoothing, and it's definitely not intentional, so I will change the image.
*EDIT - Revised image loaded in place above.
