req - region rendering

Post by FakeShamus » Sat Apr 29, 2017 7:31 am

I have a request about region rendering (which is very simple and snappy now, I love the update). My only issue with it is that it starts over from scratch in the region instead of continuing from the current render progress. Is there any way that it could preserve the current progress and simply focus render power further in the region?

The problem with that is if you're doing a region render to tweak a certain area, say a material, it doesn't make sense for Indigo to merge the region with the full render under it. I guess there could theoretically be an option to do it thought. :)

Imagine a overnight Rendering with a small areas with caustics for example that could need some more rendertime.
Instead of rendering the whole image another night long, rather do a RR on this small area for one or two hours to fix this

This is the idea behind the "improve"-brush or functionality in Thea Render, I suppose... not that bad at all.

Yeah, maybe having the choice depending on the situation would be helpful. The 2 approaches are both helpful, depending, of course.
