The 4.0.30 crashes just on startup. even on older INTEL-CPU's as it seems.
Looking foward to further beta-states.
Hi,
What's your exact CPU model?
We raised the minimum CPU requirements to SSE4.1 support, so it looks like AMD phenoms are too old.
Hello,
same limitations. AMD Phenom X6 is SSE4a compatible only.
play fast and loose with just old CPU.

Test using 780M on I7 4700 MQ :
Indigo 3.xx
1050spp_1058ksps_Bidir_20mn

Indigo 4
1141spp_4251ksps_purGPU_5mn53s
http://reelmotion.free.fr/images/cloche ... 5mn53s.png

around 4 times faster !!
it looks like bump or displacement are not working, isn't it ?

have a nice day

Bidirectional on CPU versus GPU single-directional isn't really a fair / meaningful comparison, they are quite different and bidir gets better images for same number of samples per pixel.

Bump and displacement should be working ok, only that displacement can use quite a lot of memory, which can fail due to running out of memory (common on the Intel iGPU).

Oh nice. I did the same test again.
I now got 10.300 Samples/Sec.

Preparation time was done in 20sec instead of 60sec.

Great work there!

Cheers,

Fairly test - i7 4700MQ - Nvidia 780M, 4GB - C4D
Indigo 3.xx

Indigo 4.0.30
http://reelmotion.free.fr/images/cloche ... 3mn47s.png
Indigo 4.0.31
http://reelmotion.free.fr/images/cloche ... 3mn31s.png

faster, but I lost displacement and probably supersampling

Mclaren: 2.409 Mp/s
Bedroom: 1.398 Mp/s

HD7950Boost. Only the bedroom scene it's comparable result vs other test, +19% speed.
Didn't noticed improvement in the kernel building time, both of them was short anyway.

Did you run the test for long enough? Also have you tried the updated McLaren scene?

arc en ciel: I'm pretty sure supersampling works - where is it supposed to be displacement?

600 spp both of them, but in the first test I did changed the camera position in your scene so I suppose it's no more comparable (this one leave standard settings).
3.263 Ms/p optimized scene (didn't noticed it), +36% vs old scene on same .31 Indigo build.

its because of UV + scene size. Had the same problem.
Actually the V4 version is correct. Change the scene size ( in rendersettings in C4D or 3D editor you use)
But maybe its not that, worth a look.

Actually I think it's fused that's working on the image saving options. There are 3 core devs remember. :)
Nice bug reporting so far btw!

It should work fine mate.
But what is not working at the moment are normal maps, and your scene looks like it uses them and not displacement at all!
