H2o2 rendering thread

Hi guys, here are some renders i have done recently with Indigo (RT for now, i need to buy a full license one or the other to get the extras features !), as i'm starting to get used to the way it works (still a long way to get the right to think i'm mastering it, though !).

Hopefully those few renders will be a good start, more to come soon. :)

So the first one is a "copy" of a room i saw in a magazine.
As i thought it was looking great, i tried to do some renders from the photo !

Cool h2o2!
I especially like the material of the lamp shade, although it looks like sort of a thin plastic rather than cloth.

Also, the plaster of the walls needs a little more work IMHO: it seems kind of a rustic one with those more dark areas, but the finishing surface is quite smooth..

There is a little noise still present in the image. How long did these render? Did you make any postproduction?

Here is another series, shamelessly inspired (or should i say copied ?) from a superb render by Mister Bertrand Benoit. (well does he ever make so-so render ?)

So the renders here are done with various mood from night to "white" day.
In this one i used the technique told by TheSquirrel to add some dirt on my windows.
I think the effect can be a lot better but it's a start ! :oops:

Wow thanks guys for your quick replies ! :shock:

Yeah, the lamp shade was finally some sort of a "miss", unfortunately.
I had another one showing a better effect but for some reason i had artifacts on it so i decided to retake the material and this one isn't as convincing. :(
Still learning ! ;)

As for the render times, those were still pretty "quick" (for a physical render engine, that is...) but i think they can be accelerated when i get more used to Indigo and the way it works.

As for the wall, i agree the effect is too strong and that's a thing i really need to work on, keeping subtil effects and avoid having too contrasted textures as it leads to this kind of "so-so" material.

Hopefully the second series is a bit better and the next coming will be even more realistic ! :)

I agree, as i often say : "When i'm all grown up, i would like to be Bertrand Benoit !"
(The fact that i'm a lot older than he is isn't relevant in this case ! ;) )

Here is the lamp shade material i had before, with the artifacts unfortunately.
I think the material was better though.

The second series: were they done using Light layers? Are they all the same render?

My workflow is a bit of a mess but here it is :
- Modeling with LightWave. (so used to it after 20 years)
- First pass texturing in LightWave. (where i bake the RAW color as well as a specular map and a bump map usually)
- Second pass texturing, if needed, with either Substance Painter and Substance Designer.
- Importing all the assets in blender to build the scene and export to Indigo
- Final touches to the materials as well as the light balance and all the look research directly in Indigo.

And, at the end, i try to have a cool render. :mrgreen:

Thanks for the kind words ! :)

No light layers, unfortunately, as i'm using Indigo RT "only" for now.
I need to buy the upgrade to the full Indigo license, now that i'm really starting to use it. :) (been the owner of this Indigo RT license since 2011 but never really managed to use it as i would have hoped)

Unfortunately not, and i agree it would be great to be able to use those light layers !
Soon, when i finally get my hands on full Indigo license. :)
