Simple Renderings Thread
Re: Simple Renderings Thread
I bought a new monitor, so I had to re-render one of my old scenes in larger resolution to get new desktop wallpaper. Also played around some with the light layers to get some more color in it.
It's a part of a visualization I made for a concept for a parametric design course I had a couple of years ago. The real thing ended up being a lot more sturdy, and it was a pain to build. You know, as a kid you wish you had a million legos so you could build a fortress, but when you actually have to stick them together (or even some 10 000 of them) you quickly forget that dream...

Re: Glass
the mesh is low resolution, its normals should be set to hard, not smooth. this is biasing the render geometrically speaking.DJ AntOn wrote:простой стакан с яблочным соком
you can use Indigo subdivisions to smooth the geometry. Sorry I can not read russian !

Hello all!
First of all, I'd like to say I an a new user of Indigo renderer. And I LIKE IT!
This is my first water drop test. It doesn't look real enough to me. Maybe you have some suggestions.
C & C's are always welcome.
Btw I'm using Firepro V4900 GPU. I know it's not meant for rendering. Maybe you could suggest which GPU to buy? AMD of Nvidia? AMD -> OpenCL, Nvidia -> Cuda?
Thanks!
Software: Cinema 4D, Indigo renderer.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
Try bidir MLT for nice caustics, and add something to the cauchy_b-value in your water material.
Welcome to indigo!

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
realism will depend on a number of parameters, and when it comes to such a simple subject the most important is how light is interacting with the environment.Tramis wrote:This is my first water drop test. It doesn't look real enough to me.
try adding objects that will interfer with the drop's lighting, and welcome BTW.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
You also need a small size emitter.Tramis wrote:thanks David,

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
I used HDRI environment as a light source. What kind of emitter you are talking about? Plane or simple light? I'm new to this.
Thank you for suggestions

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
A small emitting plane would do the trick. I think the water drop looks quite realistic already though, try making the ground material wood or something.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
A light is basically a plane with a light emmiter material. Add one, set the size, give it a different layer and off to the moon!Tramis wrote:I used HDRI environment as a light source. What kind of emitter you are talking about? Plane or simple light? I'm new to this.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
If you want more caustics, which really is what makes renders like this more interesting then use multiple small but bright light sources.
