Hi Ono, I'm testing the 3.8 stable version.
I think something may be optimized when working with external-referenced objects: first of all the material handling! At the moment, Indigo tells us the name(s) of the missing materials (..only the first time, moreover..): could it be possible to automatically add SU materials named as in the mtl file?

At the moment the obj handling is a little bit confusing.

I can explain further if I wasn't able to make my point..

Hi Pibuz,
Good idea, thanks for the suggestion.
Materials are auto-added now.
Some basic material conversion is done as well, including setting the colour and texture maps if present.

This is an external obj without any tweaking:

WoW excellent! Can't wait to test it!
..maybe add simple diffuse materials instead of phong?

No thanks :)

At some point I'll add a SkIndigo option to make diffuse the default though, just for you :)

I hope you're not bringing phong as the default material to blender too.

hi

i'm having a problem with my default settings sticking across sessions (as in, my default settings aren't remembered when relaunching sketchup)

for instance, my environment is set to Environment Map and i'd like to change it to Sun and Sky.

so i click the radio button next to sun&sky, press the Apply button, then also press Save Defaults.. at which point i get the popup "Current render settings successfully saved as defaults."

if i quit sketchup then relaunch, the setting is back to emap again.

osx 10.10 skindigo 3.8.18 suPro2015

(i'll be updated to 10.10.1 in a little bit but i doubt that's the fix.. i'll try it again anyway upon updating.)

pre-thanks for any help

Hi Jeff.
To have a default indigo setting I've changed the parameters within the SketchUp template file.

Hi: why are now all materials default PHONG?
i think it should be correct diffuse; now everything reflects light. Is there a solution?

Ok,
but WHY?
Why does the the new skIndigo version has set by default phong for all materials.
I think that in a render diffuse material has more sense.
1) Now when I open old scenes everything reflects
2) Now when I download an object from Warehouse every components (and there are many components in an object) reflects

Nonsense :(

Because if you look around you, you'll notice that the most materials are reflective!
Maybe not much, but the aren't absolutely diffuse, its more realistic, THEREFOR!

mmmmm :?
yes, but I am not so sure about the natural result.
I have rendered the same scene and it was all reflective
