Same render with different post pro stuff. All passes from Indigo.

After fiddling around with retro noise type effects for quite some time and eventually giving up, I ran into the box noise in a Z-Pass for a quick test. Then undersampled on purpose, and resampled to non 1:1 pixels. Then multiplied it over tons of stuff and it really gave me this old vinyl, airbrush look I was searching for <3

too cool... 8)
it never ceases to amaze me what you can do with a render engine intended for photo-realism!

No, don't bake it longer!
Not sure if postpro or MLT-noise, and don't really care. It looks so much more mysterious than a polished version. What a great image!

Haha thanks!

Yeah it's a little bit of everything. Deep love for the MLT noise and a bit of paintover, so yeah it's meant to be noisy and have this 'texture'. It's basically a concept.

Stuff like that I try to finish in 15-30 minutes to stay away from being distracted by details and just trying to nail a mood. Will post some more refined renders in that direction soon though.

Once again: it's simply art, man.

Great image mate, but why is the Sphere so low poly?!

I like that low poly sphere, seems like an artsy point of the image itself. Great work, wondrous use of Indigo.

Haha thanks a lot people <3

Actually without going too deeply philosophical on that it's funny that the sphere gets pointed out.
Originally it was perfectly round, but I didn't like it in contrast to the low poly mountains, made it lower res and sent it off to the band without telling them and they approved it right away.

It's really cool in a way, because the guys don't have any connection to 3D at all, so they naturally don't know what sphere subdivisions or other stuff is and picked the version subjectively I liked myself more as well.

There were various quick iterations and playing around too in the process like the two in the attachment.
Made other more crazy ones, but not going to post because they really sucked hardcore ass : D
