SkIndigo 3.6.25.5 (beta)

Post by fused » Tue Mar 04, 2014 3:30 am

Hello,

This release make SkIndigo compatible with SketchUp 2014.

This is a beta release - please test. Please install Indigo 3.6.26 or newer before this version. Get it from here: http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... =1&t=12701

To Install:
1) Download RBZ file from link below
2) In SketchUp, go to Window->Preferences->Extensions
3) Uncheck the SkIndigo checkbox, press OK, restart SketchUp
4) In SketchUp, go to Window->Preferences->Extensions->Install Extension
5) Select the RBZ file you downloaded
6) Check the SkIndigo checkbox again.
7) Restart Sketchup again.

NOTE: this elaborate process is to make sure the asset files get updated properly, which doesn't work if the extension is enabled.

Changelog:

#Version 3.6.25.5

#SketchUp 2014 compatibility

It'd be cool if we could get z-depth pass render mode and "shadowcatcher" mat property right inside sketchy too..

Also, arch glass option should be made tickable when specular shader is chosen in the SkIndigo material editor, since I think that this is really a big step ahead!
One question: in which cases should we still use a so-to-speak non arch glass shader?

BTW, is there a tut or something about how to use shadow pass render mode? I can't get it to work
Maybe bubs can help me out, seen his wonderful entries for the competition 8)

Nick told me that the arch glass only should be used on flat or non-sharply curved glass surfaces, and not for complicated shapes.

A shadow pass tutorial can be found here: http://www.indigorenderer.com/documenta ... s-tutorial

OOOH sorry: I meant Z-depth pass!!

BTW, this "arch glass" option generates a little confusion if combined with "arch glass acceleration" option
Seems like I cannot find it anywhere in the Indigo GUI: I guess it must have been removed after the introduction of the arch glass option, isn't it?

Yes, I suppose the arch glass can be seen as a replacement for glass acceleration. The removing of glass acceleration was mentioned in the 3.8 change list.

I sort of know how to use the depth pass, but sometimes the output quality doesn't really cut it for the kind of things I'm doing (or maybe I just suck).

I'll try to give you the basics:

Step 1: Open the channels tab of the image you want to blur, and create a new channel - should be called alpha 1.
Skärmavbild 2014-03-08 kl. 01.53.jpeg
Skärmavbild 2014-03-08 kl. 01.54.jpeg
Step 2: Copy your depth map and paste it into the alpha channel that you just created.
Skärmavbild 2014-03-08 kl. 01.56.jpeg
Step 3: Hide the alpha channel, open the Lens Blur filter and select Alpha 1 as the source.
Skärmavbild 2014-03-08 kl. 01.58.jpeg
Step 4: Tweak away!

Hope that helps. :)

Oh yes thanks Oscar!
I know how to use depth maps: I don't know how to generate them with Indigo!
I tried yesterday evening and all I get is a pure black image

Hey guys!
The plugin seems to work very good!

I have two little issues to report:
1. during the export phase, in the previous versions of SkIndigo there was sort of a progressbar in the lower left corner of SketchUp which stated "exporting, texture...exporting mesh..." etc. Now I don't see it anymore (it was useful to make sure the export process had started with no problems).
2. Using an environment map, its layer is exported (and so listed) as SECOND layer in the GUI; when I use sun/sky instead (even in separate layers) they're exported as FIRST LAYERS, which is more correct IMHO since the environmental lighting is in most cases the main one.

Thank you!

Can someone help me?

I've got the version 3.6.26 of Indigo, and I'm working in Sketchup 2014.
Whenever I try to render, the file begins to export then it stops and nothing happens, or the Sketchup closes completely.

Any insight into what I may be doing wrong?

Indigo was working fine when I was working in Sketchup 2013, but since I've upgraded, I've had issues.

Thanks.

V

Hi veronica,

does this happen on a specific SketchUp file or in every sketchup file?

If it happens in a specific scene file, can you send that file through to support@indigorenderer.com?

What are your system specs? What operating system are you on?

Regards,
Yves
