SkIndigo 3.6.21.2 (beta)

Post by OnoSendai » Wed Sep 04, 2013 12:53 am

Hello,

This is a beta release - please test. You need Indigo 3.6.0 or greater to use this version.

To Install:
1) Download RBZ file from link below
2) In SketchUp, go to Window->Preferences->Extensions
3) Uncheck the SkIndigo checkbox, press OK, restart SketchUp
4) In SketchUp, go to Window->Preferences->Extensions->Install Extension
5) Select the RBZ file you downloaded
6) Check the SkIndigo checkbox again.
7) Restart Sketchup again.

NOTE: this elaborate process is to make sure the asset files get updated properly, which doesn't work if the extension is enabled.

Some features are WIP. You can now create custom preview scenes by selecting 'New.." from the preview scene dropdown list. You just need to have a material in your scene named 'previewmaterial'. There is no way yet to delete a custom preview scene. They are stored here:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Indigo Renderer\su_preview_scenes

The 1m scale preview scene is not working fully yet. You can try it out but it does not scale displacement properly yet (it works with absorption and media settings though).

Changelog:

#Version 3.6.21.2

#Fixed quick export
#Changed alpha render from tracing method to foreground alpha checkbox
#Fixed clip map export for materials applied to groups and components
#Added warning message if material is Specular or Glossy Transparent material is chosen and opacity is set to 100%
#Tweaked default wavelength independent shader to use posOS().
#Added importing of coating and double-sided thin materials.
#Fixed substrate button for coating mat, and front and back buttons for double-sided-thin mats.
#Added missing export of coating interference parameter.

rbz = ruby ZIP

so you can unzip the rbz-file and place the plugin files directly in your plugin folder.

Ok it seems to work fine!

I just tested the coating material.
Well it works but, for me, it is not very simple to use. It should not be listed as a material type, but instead as some kind of property, check-uncheck.

So I have whatsoever material, I select it and then in the mat editor I can specify bump map, exp map and the possibility to add a coating (with some parameters if you want) or not.

Having a total different material which has a substrate it's more complicated. Well, that's for me.

**EDIT** Also, 1m preview scene seems no to be working (the rendering doesn't start at all, no warning messages). May this be caused by the "non extension" workaround installation?

Can confirm. Nothing happens with the 1m preview scene.

Can you try manually deleting your skindigo dir from the SketchUp plugins folder, and then reinstalling SkIndigo 3.6.21.2 from the RBZ, and see if that fixes it?

Yes, that was exactly what I did yesterday. Manual removal of SkIndigo and copy/paste rbz files in sketchup's plugins directory.

I re-did it btw, but nothing changed. Still not working.

Ok. If you press the 'Start / Restart Preview' button on the SkIndigo material editor, does your CPU usage go up to 100%, or does it stay near zero? What does it say in the ruby console?

When I press the play button, the red stop button becomes active as usual, but the processor stays quiet (1-2% CPU usage).

When I press play this is the displayed ruby message:

"indigo_console.exe"
"\"C:\\Users\\Pibuz\\AppData\\Roaming/Indigo Renderer/previewmats.igs\""
"-o \"C:/Users/Pibuz/AppData/Roaming/Indigo Renderer/SUthumbnails/Material1.png\" --thread_priority belownormal"

Ok, thanks.
Is it just the Mat DB 1 m scene that doesn't work?

How odd :)
Can you try and render the 1 m scene, then can you have a look at the bottom of your indigo log file, which should be at somewhere like

C:\Users\nick\AppData\Roaming\Indigo Renderer\log.txt

and paste the results of the execution?

Thanks!

Seems like Indigo simply cannot find a texture..
