Tutorial out of date

Post by warrensomebody » Sat Jun 22, 2013 8:14 am

I'm new to Indigo and trying to go through the SkIndigo Tutorial here: http://www.indigorenderer.com/documenta ... o-tutorial. I'm having trouble because the tutorial is either unclear, or the UI has changed.

First, in "Step 4. Add some carpet", there is no "Soften / Smooth Edges" option when I right click on the carpet. Second, I see no option for "Mesh Subdivision" in the Materials Editor. I've tried playing around with various settings in Skindigo and in Indigo Renderer itself, but the carpet always looks the same.

Next, in "Step 5. Add a chair and lamp", there is no "New Material" button in the Material Window. (BTW, the Kare 5701 lamp also no longer seems to exist - I used "KARE 3500 Floor Lamp Lounge Big Deal (Stehleuchte Lounge Big Deal)" instead.)

Believe it or not, I've been at this for an hour or more, and have yet to get something to actually look reasonable. It shouldn't be this hard to get started. I'd appreciate any pointers anyone can provide.

Subdivision was changed with SkIndigo 3.0.15b in 2011, you can read about the changed steps here in the first post...

Hi,

Yes, that tutorial is out of date and should probably be removed. You should use these:
