[Request]Material pallette
[Request]Material pallette
Hey all, been awhile. Havent been by this community in ages. Decided to stop by and check out the newest release of indigo. Something came to mind that ive been wanting for awhile. A window that shows all the materials on your computer (indigo would scan them the first time maybe or something.) You would then be able to drag and drop materials onto objects in your scene, easily allowing you to switch things around.

Hi neo0., long time indeed.
The local and online material databases will be (also) in the next Indigo version.

Re: [Request]Material pallette
check out Indigo's 'Windows' menu, there you'll find the matDB's.
One constitutes a local library by downloading materials from the online library.
the local library is in (Windows)
user/appdata/roaming/Indigo Renderer off the top of my head, (new) local materials can be saved here.

I can come up with reasons why that would not be desirable.
iMac 2.93 GHz Quad Core i7. 12 GB memory
ATI Radeon HD 5750M 1024 MB
OS X 10.10.3 Yosemite
Blender 2.72, Blendigo 3.8.25, Indigo 3.8.26

Re: [Request]Material pallette
I would like to add my 10c worth here if I may...
I would like to be able to download the entire MatDB as a ZIP and install it onto my machine from there. It would also be of great help if the MatDB section would remember what I downloaded and let me download subsequent updates separately.

Re: [Request]Material pallette
Anytime I create or edit a material I would like to have the option of adding it directly to the local material database. seems like only materials downloaded from online get stored in the local db. I understand you might have to generate preview thumbnails for everything, but it would be a big help in keeping organized.

Re: [Request]Material pallette
Another request that i have would be the ability to compare several settings (tonemapping for instance.) Indigo could save several "states of the render and then you could compare the two side by side to see which one you prefer. Maybe something like in adobe bridge for those who have ever used it.

Drag and drop materials would be awesome! And yes, I'd love to be able to add the materials from my HDD to the library as well.
