SkIndigo 3.6.20 (beta)
SkIndigo 3.6.20 (beta)
Hello,
This is a beta release - please test. You need Indigo 3.6.0 or greater to use this version.
To Install:
1) Download RBZ file from link below
2) In SketchUp, go to Window->Preferences->Extensions
3) Uncheck the SkIndigo checkbox, press OK, restart SketchUp
4) In SketchUp, go to Window->Preferences->Extensions->Install Extension
5) Select the RBZ file you downloaded
6) Check the SkIndigo checkbox again.
7) Restart Sketchup again.
NOTE: this elaborate process is to make sure the asset files get updated properly, which doesn't work if the extension is enabled.
Some features are WIP. You can now create custom preview scenes by selecting 'New.." from the preview scene dropdown list. You just need to have a material in your scene named 'previewmaterial'. There is no way yet to delete a custom preview scene. They are stored here:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Indigo Renderer\su_preview_scenes
The 1m scale preview scene is not working fully yet. You can try it out but it does not scale displacement properly yet (it works with absorption and media settings though).
Material loading of the new material types also does not work yet.
Changelog:
#Version 3.6.20
#Worked around error when exporting scene in some cases. (Error: #<NoMethodError: undefined method `definition' for nil:NilClass>)
#Fixed export error with displacement. (Error: #<NoMethodError: undefined method `out' for #<IndigoTexture:0xd409b710>>)
#Made all preview scenes have width and height 256, which fits the pop-up window well.
#Made all preview scenes have image save period 1, and made the thumbnail update timer to 1 second for faster mat previews.
#Fixed auto detection of Indigo path.
#Changed default image save period to 30 mins.
#Increased max value for image save period spinbox as well.
#Added detection of SketchUp 2013 to Windows installer.

Re: SkIndigo 3.6.20 (beta)
Hmm... followed the directions. When checking the extension on again in the extensions window my old version 3.4 was back.
Update failed?

Re: SkIndigo 3.6.20 (beta)
Installed 3.6.19, then used the RBZ as written. When I check my version, it still shows 3.6.19.
24 hours isn't enough

Re: SkIndigo 3.6.20 (beta)
How about sharing the plugin in the PluginStore at the SketchUcation forum or/and in the extension warehouse? Maybe it is a simple way to win some new users...

Re: SkIndigo 3.6.20 (beta)
Good to know! Thank you!
If you have some time, could you guys try to fix the missing texture issue?
It comes out when SkIndigo doesn't find an additional texture (bump, exp, etc..). If you try to re-apply the same texture which has the same name, still it does not find it. Same texture, name changed: all ok.
This frequently happens when working on the same scene on two PCs with same texture library.

I can't replicate this problem. Can you write an exact sequence of steps on how to replicate this?
Thanks.
Re: SkIndigo 3.6.20 (beta)
Say you have a scene in which you have a material with a bump texture named "bump.jpeg".
Now, you go home and you bring your scene with you. The diffuse texture is stored inside Sketchy, so no problems with that. You take "bump.jpeg" with you.
Once at home, you open the SketchUp file, if you check in the material you'll see that the bump slot turns red, because SkIndigo cannot locate the exact path of the additional texture. So, you click on the red box and browse your pc and find the exact same "bump.jpeg" you brought home with you (this doesn't change if you already have the same bump.jpeg texture in your hard disk). You can now click accept but the red box is still there and the path has not been saved.
If you now simply rename "bump.jpeg" to "bump_ok.jpeg" and select it, SkIndigo stores the new path and works all right.
Hope I've been clear..
