Gemstones
Gemstones
Hi
Here are my gemstones in attachment (zip) , also some of them are in MDB like Amethyst, Topaz and Emerald.
So i don't need to upload if the default material preview scenes look similar.
Most of the absorption is from http://minerals.gps.caltech.edu/FILES/V ... st_AZ.html
Most dispersion data is computed from n @ different wavelength found at http://www.mindat.org/
and from other sites.
Some more will be added in future, and plz recommend gemstone that you would like to see.
I do understand i need default scene for preview to upload in MDB, but i had few problems with that,
like i wanted to use halt 2000 SPP, Aperture Diffraction on, MLT with BIDIR
Also most of the materials need very thin / small medium to not look black because in reall life they are used also for very small gems.
Also from larger gemstones u can see there is some SSS, so i experiment with that when i get back home from Norway in 1,5 months or so.
U can google image search "gemstones scattering"
for example Kazakhstan Jadeite has some SSS.
Bolivia Amethyst
Brazil Aquamarine
Brazil Greenish-yellow Chrysoberyl
Burma Blue Zircon
California Aquamarine
California Cherry Opal
Green Sapphire
Ireland Aquamarine
Italy Andradite
Kazakhstan Jadeite
Madagascar Pezzottaite
Namibia Blue Elbaite
Namibia Blue Jeremejevite
New Mexico Golden Beryl
Zambia Emerald
Tanzania Almandine
Thailand Ruby
Topaz
Utah Red Beryl

Re: Gemstones
In alphabeticalistic order on a crappy model.
Had to remove the hyphen in the material name of Brazil Greenish-yellow Chrysoberyl or indigo gives an error.

Re: Gemstones
I was hoping to create Rose Quartz:
Will upload to MDB if it clears up a bit more.
2500 s pix 8,5 h on c2d e4500 and e7400
Path tracing with MLT didn't work (bug image gets brighter and brighter)
metropolis true
max num consec rejections 30000
bidirectional true
super sample factor 3
hybrid true
ray origin nudge distance 1e-6
aperture diffraction true
