Hi
I'm experimenting with the brushed titanium material.
I used SmartDen texture from material Brushed Metal http://www.indigorenderer.com/materials/materials/55
Test scene is made by PureSpider
Depending on texture resolution (how much i have pixels per length unit) the result is very different.
In current case (1'st image) i tiled and mirrored 1024x1024 pixel image for preview scene to 3072x3072.
Higher resolution will give silky smooth look, too high even matt like look.

Well apart from the repeating pattern that is a pretty neat material.
Have you thought of using ISL for the pattern? I know next to nothing about how to use it but I have seen some pretty impressive results which should work perfectly for something like this

I try to get ride of the repeating pattern.
Unfortunately i have no experience with ISL.
How was this texture generated, in PS, if so then how? So i generate higher resolution texture.
For example GIMP will crash if i try to generate higher resolution texture with many of the filters / scripts.

I don't know Gimp but in Pshop there is a filter called Offset which can often help in getting rid of repeating linesMeelis wrote:Thanks

Now i generate texture in GIMP with some random noise and then motion blur.
Applying motion blur for 6144x6144 pix image takes 10 min
and i have to find good noise density and motion blur length
(max length is 256 pix and that covers ~ 0,5 cm on last preview scene model)

After some experimenting i think that's final material.

It's 40 Mb so i am not shure if i may upload to indigo MDB.
I made the texture in Gimp like that:
1) Exp map
* New image 6656 x 6656
* Random hurl 40%, repeat 1
* Motion blur, linear, length 128, angle 90
* Crop center out 6144 x 6144
* Little + contrast and unsharp mask
2) Bump map is just same image added 1 more unsharp mask 2/3/0 or was it 3/2/0 for more black scratches

Your exponent map does nothing with 10000 - 10005 values, and you could use the same map for bump and exp. I don't know why you would want a brighter exp map.
You could probably use a way smaller tiled map and never notice the difference with this kinda pattern.
10 min for motion blur? Photoshop used...... half a second, and it goes to 999!

I mean use PACKED_1_Noise40Blur128Dark.png for both bump and exponent and you will get the same result, but this texture won't work well as exponent map anyway because of the tiny streaks and no larger details.
For exponent values, base value (c) is exponent for black parts, and for white parts it's c + b (multiplier). If you put 50 on c and 100 on b you get 50 exponent for black parts in the texture, and 150 for white parts.
Easy way to make this tileable is to do the noise and mblur stuff, then crop the edges if they didn't get equally blurred with the middle part. Dupe the layer, flip it vertically, then add a black white gradient mask from top to bottom. Tweak the gradient if the texture looks too mirrored.

There is function in Gimp to make image seamless.
So i cropped 25% out from the corner, now the image is 3072 px and i made it seamless.
With bump map it's 14 Mb pigm, grayscale image would be 9,75 Mb but my grayscale image is converted back to rgb because a while ago Indigo didn't support grayscale png.
