Maxigo 2.0 - beta2 - [3.august.2009]

Hey all,

Since Indigo 2.0 stable is out now, then I think it's a good time to release a first beta version of the new Maxigo. It's been a year since the last update. 95% of Maxigo has been rewritten. Only some parts of the UI are the same as in previous versions.
This is the first public release after rewrite so there could be a number of bugs waiting around the corner. If you encounter any anomalies, then please report back to this thread.
Maxigo also comes with an installer package now. The entire installation process has been automated and there is no need to copy any files manually anymore. You just have to point the installer to your 3ds Max root folder and the files will be copied over automatically. When everything goes well, then the "Maxigo" menu item should appear under the main menu of 3ds Max (right before the Help menu item).

NB! The installer tries to remove any previous Maxigo installations it finds to avoid conflicts between the two versions.

Also please report back, if for some reason the installation is not working for you.

:D :D :D :D :D :D Thanks, Suvakas!!! Great work - I can't wait to try it out! ... but it does not show up in my 3DS Max (I'm using Max 2008) - under the Maxigo menu it simply says: "Missing: Macro_Maxigo `Indigo" ! :(

I hope you can address and remedy this issue easily.

Thanks for the report. I will look into it.
As I understand, then the Maxigo menu item appeared before the Help?

Ahhhh wonderful, thank you suvakas!

Unfortunally it does not work for now.
I just installed it. Opened my last szene and got the missing dlls dialog.
(using max 2009 under windows xp)

The result is, that I don't have any maxigo materials now.

What can I do?

Unfortunately the old scenes will not work anymore since there are fundamental changes in Maxigo material system. Like I wrote in the 1st post - previous Maxigo version is removed during the beta installation. You have to merge your previous scene into a new file and re-do all your materials.

You should have 3 new material types:
Indigo Main
Indigo Emitter
Indigo Blend

But did the installer worked for you Marvin ? Can you start the Maxigo export panel?

Yes the installer works perfectly. And the export panel opened.

Wow, fascinating online material import!I like it.

But it will take hours to convert all my materials by hand :(

Well..you could try to copy those 3 files from maxigo 1.09 zip to your 3dsMax_root/Scripts/Startup:
export_igm.mse
import_igm.mse
Maxigo_Materials.mse

Those are the materials from the previous version that are removed by the installer. Maybe it works like that. But officially the old version is obsolete now.

I think I fixed it.
Link updated in the 1st post.
You can either uninstall the previous version and do a clean install or install directly over the previous version. Please let me know if it solves your problem.

Congratulations Suvakas! I'll start working on a mini-manual for 3dsmax :) The online material import is awesome.

I have a question regarding the online material import:

In my material window all the materials are assigned to objects in the szene, and I like to load an online material to an already assigned material.
But the loaded material is replacing the material name too and so it shows up as a completely new and unassigned material.
But this was not my intention, I like to fill in just all the parameters to a given material slot.
How can I achieve that, suv?
