Your 3ds Max version ?

Hey,

Any active Max users out there? I need some feedback from you.
What is the version of 3ds Max you are currently using? Is it older or newer than Max 9 ?
I'm asking, cause I recently discovered, that you can actually access dotNet stuff from maxscript, but it got implemented since version 9. I'd like to try some dotNet classes in some areas of Maxigo, but it means, that Maxigo will not be fully compatible in versions older than 9 anymore.
So..I'm wondering, if that would be a big problem?

I'm using Max 9.0

But might be moving over to Blender I think soonish - if I can ever figure out the UV mapping system! :cry:

I'm not talking about 2009, but version 9. The one after version 8 and before 2008. Like 3 versions back or something? I think 9 was released in 2006.

@Doug Armand
Blender? Sounds like moving on to a next level =)
Blender is way over my head.

over mine too atm :lol:

But I am getting there. Some things I find easier - like the modelling. Other things like texturing I found easier in Max. Guess it's just getting used to it. Think Blender will be nice when I've learnt more. Learnt how to UV unwrap today!! well sort of :lol:

Have to say as far as exporters go - yours is better integrated. I love the way you let Indigo materials be created/set in Max.
I'm finding I have to add the texture maps in Blendigo exporter again after I set them already in a blender material annoying, converting the blender material doesn't seem to work for me - as well as having to change the UV set. Probably just dumb user error again on my part though :oops:

@Doug, well about the converting:
There where attempts to convert Blender materials into Indigo materials... But the material possibilities are too different to perfectly convert them. You *can* convert the materials by using the "conv" button, but you wont get too great results. ;)
Tweaking the settings in Blendigo is much more accurate, even if you only try to get something vaguely. You'll get used to it^^

Big Fan tried to do a costum Blendigo which changed close to everything... But the interest seemingly wasn't high enough... Maybe, he still has an uptodate exporter of his own version... Try to ask him to get it too, if he comes on again in a far future xD (If he hasn't got an uptodate exporter, I'm pretty sure, he WONT make you one, though...)

Well Kosmo, seems like you're the only active max user around. There either are no others or they are just too lazy to reply.

(Doug doesn't count since he is in Blender's boat with one leg :wink: ).

...and, yes, I was "on vacation" when you posted this... :lol:

I've not spent too much time on Indigo lately [or even altogether] (although I do follow what's goin on on the website.)

I'm so glad to you intending to devlop Maxigo further, Suvakas - I would love to see a new version supporting some of the new Indigo features.

Keep up the great work - it is appreciated (I speak for myself here of course, but I am sure there are many others.)

6 should still work. You just can't use all the features. My main interest is to start using dotNet xml parser, cause mine is written in maxscript and it's not working very well.

[edit]
And I plan to use the parser for importing igm's. Regular scene export will still work as it is. Also i'm not sure yet if I can get the dotNet parser to work correctly. I will upload a script soon and I hope you guys can help me to test the igm/pigm import.
