Excellent the comparison, thanks for the archives.
Several questions arise Because the textures and illumination in Vray are so bad?
And because in Kerkythea the textures in the pictures against the wall disappear?
It is BusyRay UnBiased?

Heya jansan,

I'll take an educated guess ... for vray he is using PPT for the
first and secondary bounce and this needs a lot of time to
converge to a clean image. And the glass in Kerkythea seems
to suffer from a caustics through glass problem, like maxwell
did. As for BusyRay ... here the featurelist:

Code: Select all

Global Illumination yes
Per-pixel accuracy estimation yes
Textures yes
Specular reflection yes
Fresnel reflection yes
Glossy reflection yes
Texture background yes
Bump mapping yes
Area shadows yes
Self-illumination yes
Skylight yes
High Dynamic Range channel output yes
Alpha channel yes
Editing of tone mapping parameters yes
High quality antialiasing yes
Particle systems no
Depth of field no
Illumination by environment map no
Splines rendering no
Caustics no
Refraction no
IES light sources no
So it is indeed biased. ;o)

take care

I already posted the busyray things in an earlier post :?

and it seems that busyray is unbiased (with what few features it has) if you set the error amount to 0. If not it starts looking like a photon mapper

they will be adjourned to every improvement (of surrender, of time, etc) posting the various parameters used in the respective programs.
We will also make the tests with different system of calculation, if they are present in the program.

Time employed for the tests (20 minutes)
Used PC (amd dual opteron 265 - 4g ram - xp 32)

whoever is not happy about the results you can unload the scene
to improve the test (posting the image and the relative used parameters)
