Export trees from Max to Sketchup with .igmesh

Post by oleg » Mon Nov 07, 2016 2:01 am

Hello!

I am engaged in architectural visualization. I really liked the picture quality and speed of the Indigo render. And I would like to migrate from my old render to indigo RT.

The main problem was the size of the project sketchup files when I load them in the trees. Three trees in the scene makes the file size larger than 2 gigabytes!
I would use the references to trees but .obj file format does not store information about the materials indigo (Leaf SSS). And how to keep in .igmesh of 3ds max 2016 I did not find.

If my INGLISCH IZ VERY BED :)
1. I need to save trees from 3ds max to format indigo render (with indigo materials).
2. I want to use external references (Xrefs or Instances system) for these files in Skethup.

How can I do that?
Thank you in advance for your help.

I am trying to export igmesh from the blender. But I would not be happy in this life - the error appears. Blender 2.77. IndigoRT x64 3.8.34.

you can create igmesh with indigo
star a render with only 1 model (for simplicity) and stop it
when you save .igs file find the folder [name]_mesh
inside the folder find the .igmesh file
save it where do you prefer
on sketchup you can model a simple mesh, with exact material name of original mesh, then create a component
inside the component use the skindigo function "edit active mesh" to set external igmesh file
...
:)

a tip: check materials!!!!

I explained decently? :D

Hello!

Thank you for your help and kindness!
I have almost all turned to do as you have advised!
Only the textures are assigned randomly.
1. I save from 3ds max igmesh.
2. I then export to collada plane with textures.
3. opens in skethup and rename the texture in the name of the 3ds max file (when exporting to collada names textures are not saved).
4. bark texture assigned to the leaves. Leaves texture assigned to bark. I cry in the corner. Life is cruel.

Thank you again for your help.
