Hi all,

It's been a long time since I've posted here anything :)

As you may or may not know Maxigo is no longer the official exporter (it got replaced by IndigoMax last year) and I'm no more related to Glare.
Since then Maxigo has become my private hobby project.
I haven't "officially" worked on it since last November, but it still exists and I use it for all my Indigo scenes. Also some of the forum users have used it and I've been asked to make it available for the public (cheers Dcm  ).
So here it is for everyone who wants to play with it.

Maxigo is completely rewritten in C++ and is a render plugin now. Be aware, that it may be full of bugs ans glitches cause there hasn't been many testers. But it works for me and it may be useful to someone else too.

Changes:
Changes in v.3.2.1 beta2:
=========================
Complete rewrite in C++. Maxigo is a render plugin now and can be found under "Render setup" panel.
(Previous Maxigo materials are supported.)

* added - New unified material type - MaxigoMtl
* added - New material type - MaxigoLnk
* added - Material previews inside standard preview slots
* added - Support for Slate Material Editor
* added - "Color Correction map" exports using correct bitmap resolution (if bitmap in submap slot)
* added - New light layers system (Light Layers rollout)
* added - Global Displacement and Bump multipliers (Globals rollout)
* added - Clay Mode (Globals rollout)
* added - Support for new Sky model
* added - GPU switch (General settings rollout)
* added - Console mode (General settings rollout)
* added - support for Max default lights
* added - support for following photometric light shapes: point, line, rectangle, sphere, cylinder
* added - Support for Vray light (only plane and sphere shapes at the moment)
* added - support for Mental Ray and Vray sky portals
* added - Custom parameters to standard cameras ("Indigo camera" rollout under camera settings)
* improved - Faster scene export
* improved - Faster instances export
* improved - Vray material conversion
* removed - igm/pigm import/export (somewhat replaced by MaxigoLnk)

Added bug fixes for Max 2013. (No installer! Only plugin file.)

Thanks, much appreciated Suvakas. Now that much of it has been rebuilt, any scenes that were made with Maxigo 3.07, are they still compatible or do they need to be rebuilt? I'm thinking materials etc.

EDIT: Just seen above. Nevermind.

They should work as they are. No need to re-do anything.
You just need to have the previous Maxigo version installed too cause I removed old materials from this new version. So install the 3.0.7 version and then install 3.2.1beta over it.

I was using it for a longer period without any problems. Only one "bug" i noticed is, that "wait for indigo" checkbox is enabling itself randomly.

I`d also add some info :
* Mat preview is "zoomable/resizable" - users can resize preview window.
* Use separate thread for material previews if you want to get rid of lags when updating materials (if auto preview is enabled).
Also note, that if you set more seconds for mat preview, there should be a slowdown/freeze when "use separate thread" is disabled
*When using EXR as main light source, use emission under material parameters with proper luminance power. This is good to match power of EXR and Emitters together
*ColorCorrection exports in same resolution as bitmap in slot
*For blending 2 materials, use max`s native blend
*Dont forget to use IndigoCamera rollout in camera parameters!

Thanks Suv.

Hey Suv, can you test IES lights? I can't seem to get them working.

Seems to work fine (great improvements, especially export time!) but it seems that NK materials still need to be rebuilt using MaxigoMtl than Indigo Main. Indigo kicks up an error if using Indigo Main NK material.

Also, would it be possible to bring back the Metal preset? It seems that you can't specify the level of specular reflectivity through Slate, you have to go through to Indigo and then make the adjustments there, which isn't ideal if you're trying to save the materials for later in Max.

Material rendering within Slate is good, but lags a bit, even with "use separate thread" ticked. I've gone back to Scanline for now.

Ok. I'll see if i can fix it.

You can do it with MaxigoMtl. Make sure your IOR > 1 then enable "Specular Refl." checkbox and play with color.

Well it's unbiased. It lags a bit, yes, but not that much. For me it actually makes tweaking materials faster than before  . But you can disable Automatic updates and use manual update instead.

Where do you find these fancy options?

advanced settings ->material editor -> rendertime

be sure, that more seconds = freeze when separate thread is disabled.

also, sometimes maxigo cant handle too much settings in material editor when separate thread is enabled, so manual update is a must then ;)
