Rotation Matrix

Does someone knows how to get the correct rotation matrix for ingio out of Max?
Neither $.rotation as matrix3 or inverse $.rotation as matrix3 gives me the correct result. I've also tested all kinds of $.transform combos

[edit] hmm... this may also be a scene dependant issue. I got it working for now. But still..if someone knows how to do it then i would be really happy to hear a 2nd opinion
