Material error
Material error
Hi new Indigo user pretty amazing kit
I have a problem with making my own materials in Maxigo. Some diffuse materials like wood grain or picture wont render in the preview and when I export the scene Indigo crashes why is this? And when I remove the material it render fine. Could this be a file type problem?
Cheers

Re: Material error
Hi and welcome !
If material preview doesn't render, then it won't render with main application either.
Could you share a bit more information about the material that has this problem?
Maybe you are using some unsupported bitmap format ?

Hi suvakas thanks for replay
Its a straight forward jpeg file 8bit 1000X1150 pixels works fine in mental ray. Its also doing it with other jpeg and png filke types might have to reinstall maxigo?
Cheers

Re: Material error
You could try to export that material to pigm file and upload it here.
I could then take a closer look of what's going on.
Ps. What is the Maxigo version you are using?

Re: Material error
Looks like my indigo material editor is not liking any of my jpeg's, png or bitmaps what could it be?
Re: Material error
Sorted was the location of my materials LOL
Re: Material error
Great that you solved it.
Could you maybe elaborate, what exactly was wrong with the location ?

Re: Material error

Re: Material error
sorry lad ... i didnt get the point of ctzn ... my apologies !
Re: Material error
Please don't apologize for that, I was probably not clear enough then.
Indigo 3, the very rendering application, can open, edit and save IGM's (Indigo materials). In that sense it replaces the former standalone application wich is now obsolete.
When an IGM is opened, the material test scene is loaded automatically.
PS: Indigo can even open images for tonemapping purposes !

Re: Material error
Common man .... that was my fault .... I reckon I was so lunatic when I saw the indigo material editor ....
you know one of my defects is that I dont know I have to edit and assign materials in Max or indigo ...
e.g I have worked with another renderer , mental ray ! it wasnt powerful like indigo but you could see the UV of everything with out start rendering ... but here I have to wait for a clear render to see just my material bump !
I could even see the exact glossiness of my materials . I think creating materials is so hard in indigo , isnt it ?
nevertheless I just read indigo and maxigo manual 4 times ! but I couldnt find what I was searching !
Thnx for everything pal ! thnx !
