Same behavior on a Win XP machine.

Copied/unzipped indigo_BETA-02.zip and ef_19f82ca.zip into .blender/scripts/io

Can select Blender from Engine pull down. Panels show up in Render panel but are empty.

Using Blender 2.52 r30403.

Am I missing something in the installation process, or does this fall under the "earlier or later versions [of Blender] may not work" ?

Yes, very much so. There appears to be a lot of work being done on Blender's API at the minute which makes it very hard for me to keep up with changes.

The best thing I can do that the minute is to wait for the storm to settle, and then get the exporter working again - that might be another few weeks :(

For blender r30000+ neither of these paths are correct. The final location will be much more sensible - I will post instructions with the next release.

I was afraid you'd say that.

I really hope that now that the Durian project seems to approach it's final stages that we can see Blender 2.5 stabilizing and approaching a more finalized stage.

Thanks for your efforts!

I think the general plan was that Blender devs would be finalizing external render engine integration after Durian, but in time for the main 2.6 release. I hope that won't be too long now - this exporter has been in (part-time) development for nearly a year already!

Got it working with Blender 2.52.5 r 29574 from Graphicall.org.

First got the error "Output path is not writeable", however, that was easily fixed by setting the output path to a directory that actually exists.

I'll see how far I get this time

It appears that constraints are not handled correctly (with Blender 2.52 r 29383). I've set up a simple scene with Suzanne in the middle, a plane as emitter and a background plane that has a copy rotation constraint to the camera so it rotates with the camera around Suzanne

The results of that constraint are not exported correctly and the background remains in it's original location.
Works fine with 2.49 and Blendigo 2.2.11-d

This may well also have to do with Blendigo 2.5 disagreeing with the used Blender Version 2.5 r 29283, however, unless I am missing some button or check box to click all meshes are exported with normal_smoothing false.

In Blender the meshes are set Smooth for shading and have a subdivision modifier applied.

Doug,

I know this has sort of come up before but I've got a couple clients who are interested in doing fly-by animations of some projects. To do that, I would need exporting to be much faster, I.E. if there was an option only to export camera and sun data without exporting mesh/material data for each frame so that I can export the flyby much quicker.

Is something like this planned realistically soon? If it would help, I can offer some compensation for speedtracking this! Either for Blender 2.49b or 2.5...

PM me or email me if it's something that interests you...

It is definitely something that can be done, and I don't think it needs any extra sponsorship, but thanks for the offer.

I am away on holiday for a week starting tomorrow, but when I return I am planning to spend a day or two fixing various things in both Blendigos and making new releases.

Doug,

Sounds great. Just checked and Blender 2.53 BETA is released. Let's hope that this means no more API changes that cause you to have to rewrite part of the wonderful Blendigo 2.5.

BTW, does it still make sense to report bug findings for Blendigo 2.5 ?

I seems to ignore layers being turned off and on, or if you have geometry hidden. It just renders everyting.

Yes! Thanks for the info, I will investigate it.

I will do that if I come across one.

Even though the Blender folks have stated that the Python API Is still one of the main areas of work I hope that not every new beta release of Blender renders Blendigo non-functional.

I am definitely looking forward to a new iteration of Blendigo 2.5 and will test it as soon as I get around to it.
