big problem

hello!
im trying to do a transparent letter but i don't understand whad the surface(IX)are not transparen please help me.

looks like it's simply reflecting light and it is transparent.

i have done this without transparency.

and when i switch to raytransp and 1.5 ior i have the same thing the the first image,exactly the same

Did you put the material alpha value at zero? (just under the RGB sliders on the materials panel).

If you dont put that setting at zero your material wont be transparent, even if you turn on raymir.

several things with your materials. You're not getting them transparent because you haven't clicked "mirror transp"-"raytransp" which is what enables transparency. No need to put the material alpha value at zero. Your IOR (1.5) is ok. In shaders, your spec must be 0.50 and your hard 30.

hi dems,
The top normals of "I" and "X" are going the wrong side, they have to look outside... on "X" mesh i was able to correct this with "Edit / Normals / Recalculate outside" but the "I" mesh is completely corupted. I supose you better rebuild the "I".
