Some questions
Some questions
Hi all
1) How to export mesh as real instance and not as separated mesh? I tried "Alt D" instead of copy but it doesn't work!?
2) How to use displace? Do I have to use blender's displace and subdivision or can I just use blendigo mesh subdivision and displace as bump?
thx

Re: Some questions
Do displace works in last 2.0.11 release? My tests give me crazy renders

Heya Jambert,
Smartden is on holiday at the moment, so I'll get back to you tomorrow about these, unless anyone else can help>?

Ok thank for reply, I've done some capturesbenn wrote:Heya Jambert,

I think there is a bug with subdivision and subdivision smoothing in blendigo. If there's no bug, that mean I don't understand the use of subdivision in blendigo

Re: Some questions
Ok I've tried with new map and things appears more clearly...
To make Subdivision in blendigo works, mesh must be more subdivided in blender than I did.

Re: Some questions
Dividing the mesh in Blender kind of makes using Indigo displacement useless.
I'm not familiar with Blendigo, but try raising the "Max Num Subdivisions" parameter on Blendigo UI instead of subdividing the mesh in Blender. For a planar mesh like this you could aslo try to set the "curvature treshold" to -1 or 0. (not sure if it's allowed in Blendigo)

Re: Some questions
What does it do when you do "Alt D" - does it create a new separate mesh?Jambert wrote:1) How to export mesh as real instance and not as separated mesh? I tried "Alt D" instead of copy but it doesn't work!?
If so, maybe it means that you can only use "Alt D" in Edit Mode only...
(i.e you will only create instances within a single object)
I don't really know, that's just an idea, you might want to check it out in Blenderclan's forum...
Anyway, if I remember well, creating instances without transforming them as real objects afterwards won't be recognised by Indigo as proper objects, and thus won't render.
But then again maybe I'm wrong...
If other people round here can say if I'm completely misleading Jambert, please do so!!!

you are wrong. Alt D creates instances and indigo recognize them well as such. i don't really understand what we are discussing about.madcoo wrote:What does it do when you do "Alt D" - does it create a new separate mesh?Jambert wrote:1) How to export mesh as real instance and not as separated mesh? @Jambert: if you still have problems, you can post an exmaple here
Check normals, dude!
Re: Some questions
Ok I got it all wrong!
Well - at least I tried, and I learnt something at the same time!
Thanks!

Some questions
Hi this is my first try, I will come up with more.
I have changed many things, mainly sampling strategy, spot lamps, the downlights are not longer mesh light but a shinydiffuse with emit, and I have started with this simple night scene, later Ill post some daylight.
