Problems with Extra Atmospheric

Post by 5OnIt » Tue Feb 10, 2009 4:58 pm

I'm trying to do an Asteroid/Moonscape type render. I'm using the Extra Atmospheric setting in Blendigo. So far all have rendered like below. Before anyone asks, YES I have "Set Smooth" set. Is this just a limitation of Indigo?

isn't that related to ray nudge distance?
50, try to increase the ray nudge distance a bit... (factor 10 or 100)

If that was to work Kram, I would thank you a lot :)

I'm affraid sun is hard with normals, heh. Hopefully its just sun *cough*... you are supposed to use high res or displaced meshes to work this around, that would nicely do with a lunar landscape.
obsolete asset

50, you didn't actually model the whole moon, right? xD

Oh heck no. I'm trying a few simple scenes. I wouldn't know where to get a relief map of the moon anyway. Would be interesting to try!

I guess, nowhere hires enough to be useful with such closeups ;)
I just asked because of my ray nudge theory... but in this case, it's probably nonsense, as ray nudge defines distances ;) In case of huge (planet-like) distances, you gotta use slightly higher ray nudge.
