I moved the sun higher (earlier in the day). Notice that some of the sun hits the floor, which scatters the light, bringing daylight into the room. I turned the exponent down a little on the hardwood to increase the scatter (i think that's what happens). I also increased your meshlight power to around 10000. I also closed the in the room which traps more of the light, scattering it around the room. Below is the result.
