How do I calculate the lens shift ?

Post by wizzleteet » Mon Jul 21, 2008 11:43 pm

Hi,

I noticed the new len shift option,

however, it does not seem to correllate with blenders lens shift.

How does it work, exactly ?

kind regards,

wzzl

No, it doesn't correlate (yet). Trial-and-error is the answer, basically.

I believe blender's lens shift is defined as a percentage of the camera view. indigo's shift is in real units - referring to the size of the film you've selected.

so, for example, if you set your film width to 35mm and you shift the blender camera 0.5 to the right, your indigo camera shift would be 50%, or 17.5 mm. if you are doing an up-shift you need to calculate how tall your film is (according to the proportions of your image you want to render) and calculate the blender shift percentage of that.

That sounds about right:

Indigo is set to 36mm film, blender's lens shift is .13.

Indigo's lens shift is: .0036 (m) x 0.13 = 0.00468

check !

Should be easy to implement in blendigo...

great!
it would definitely be nice if the calculations could be built right into blendigo.

Smart I think that you probably see it incorrectly. It's not that because people do not report errors they don't use it. I use it all the time but I just got no errors. I got some reported them and you fixed it. We all do appreciate your hard work on this awesome piece of work you do. Please don't stop.

@BbB - the height of your film depends on your image proportions. if your width is 36mm and you are rendering your image at 600x800, your film height would be 27mm. if you render a square image, it would be 36 mm, etc...

I also very much appreciate all your hard work, SmartDen. and I have to echo Woodie in that I use the 1.1.5 exporter all the time, and just never ran into any problems so far. awesome work! and holidays for everyone! I know I could use one too.
