any interest?

Post by Big Fan » Sun Mar 23, 2008 8:30 am

well 1.0stable is coming up soon 8) Ive about done enough for the doc wiki  and its just about time for to move on.. :)

I am thinking of posting my creaking old blendigo version as a parting gesture come 1.0stable.
Is there any interest in it?

The license will not be GPL to stop lux picking over it for free code  and it will be for hobbyists use rather than commercial or profit making users.

It is slightly different internally and in the UI from the official one. see pic
It will be a bit slower cos of all eye candy and it is based on older code with size limitation.

things that are different presently -

DOF estimator
match metering
includes handling
slight converter differences
link to display ies reference pic
region render by sliders
enable/disable maps use
camera response
real absorption and sss values

and probably some other stuff I forgot :P

yes great !
but, can I do commercial work with it too ?
Indigo is a highQuality renderer and it would be great to use this for eventually jobs.

PS: It would be great to see new features ^^

well quite alot of views and not many interested which is no different to past offerings so we can knock that idea on the head
may just send out to people on request but it will definitely not be for commercial use or GPL sorry

edit btw another innovation I just added allows for selecting proper camera lens focal lengths from a menu - probably will do for canon nikon and 2 more if I can find the data
also option to auto reposition camera back or forward so framed area is the same despite lens changes and jog in/out 100mm a time for fine tuning

considering rotating sphere for changing the direction of selected objects like emitter meshes - not that you need to know that or be impressed just telling you for general interest
