it's quite simple, considering, you have the modelling skills:
-model two cylinders, which are rotating each other in the manner of the render behind your link.
-model caps
-give one of the cylinders a green glass material
-give the other one a violet one
-give the caps an nk material
-render
-done

- any of the materials can be changed as you wish ;)

ok, in this case, it's four cylinders...

if you are talkin about the material apereance, HDR lightning is what you need...

Basically what Kram and ZomB said, and the HDR was one of the Paul Debevec ones, probably Galileo I think.
