Great!! Very good article, introduction to Indigo, materials, lighting, exporting, everything!
A few things, in the "B. The <Phong> Material" part, you wrote:
"(0 = glossy, 5110 = non-glossy, or anything in between)"
That should be the other way around: 0 = non-glossy (dull), 5110 = glossy
"NOTE: you can only have 1 sunlight in your scene exported to Indigo."
I've exported and rendered a scene before with two sun lamps, and it worked.
And a question: what do the names of the nk files stand for? Eg. Al is aluminum, Ch is chrome, Zro2 is I'm guessing zirconium-dioxide, but what is "Alas305t.nk", "Siam1.nk" and the other strange names? Maybe you could put a link there pointing to some site where more info can be found.

"Have you ever had a render Neo you were so sure was real? What if you couldn't wake from that render? How would you know the difference between the rendered world, and the real world?"
@Zsolt
Here you will find some lists of the .nk files with the "translation".
I haven't had the time to update the lists yet, so take them with
a grain of salt. ;o)
take care

That is one awesome tutorial!lovely
Wish it had existed when I started with indigo...all explained in one place
It would be good to know which nkdata works (or doesn't!) though this is probably a bit OT to this post and also a bit of a mission to check them all
Also you mention the command line startup (yay something that means I dont have to change the ini all the time )
Since some people had a problem with this I thought it might be worth mentioning the MS Command here powertoy. basically it lets you right click on a folder (eg in explorer) and open a prompt there instead of having to cd..cd.. all the way from the default dir it starts in! you can get it Here
sorry if thats slightly OT and thanks for the great tutorial!

Thanks for that link!
In the meanwhile, I have already started going through the list and trying them out. In fact, I've decided to list them all, and in time render a preview of each one that works.
It also seems possible to convert some non-working ones into ones that work - by conversion of units - I think I'll look into that too.

radiance: I've started a thread here:
http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=247
to post my pics, as I render them. Going to take some time though...

Excellent tutorial
One thing though: add "void" to the nk data miscellaneous section.
And a link to an nk database such as http://www.ioffe.ru/SVA/NSM/nk/
Where did you get the nk's for your tut? And how do you figure out their input names for the xml?
Later, Optigon.

Where the PNG files are saved?
Hi,
I am trrying out my first rendering by Indigo 0.9.1 and Blender.
The render runs (both in Blendigo 0.9. and Dev-Indigo_export_0.6test6_beta1.py as well).
But I cannot find where the output .PNG is saved!
The manual says that a proper folder "RENDERS" is created inside the Indigo folder, but really it doesn't exist.
Can you give me the solution? Thanx
Riccardo

Re: Where the PNG files are saved?
Thats more than strange dude... if you download the Indigo files the folder should look like attached.Riccardo wrote:The manual says that a proper folder "RENDERS" is created inside the Indigo folder, but really it doesn't exist.
All indigo saved files (png, igi, exr) are saved there for default!
Otherwise check your log file and search for the rendered image name on your system

Thancs for your reply. I've solved the mistake. I unzipped manually by drag&drop (wrong way), and the subfolders haven't been created.
(But I've seen that it's also possible to create the subfolder manually.
I've tested now, and someone else posted in forum, time ago. It works).
