Well, that is a generous offer! I might be interested in taking you up on that LOTRJ . . . but I'm not sure if I'll have the scene ready in time. I'll see about finishing it up, and let you know ASAP.

BTW: Does Indigo have an image output size limit? The final image would need to be 5400 x 2400 pixels, which is why a weeks worth of rendering would be great . . . and why I probably would not end up rendering the image myself.

Let me know if you have any questions regarding the project.

Thanks!

Well, tell me what the scene is and maybe show me a small render after a few minutes of computing. Perhaps that will make a decision easier. Or you could duke it out in the chat room! :P

I'll post some info and a test render later, maybe even today.

But I imagine that the best thing to do is render on a 'first come, first served' basis . . . and I posted first!

Kidding . . .

Maybe, whoever gets an IGI over to you first? Of course, it would make sense to consider which project/image would benefit most from the long render time.

Okay, well here's the info on my project.

It involves a package redesign (small company, I'm the sole graphics guy). The package being updated has a die line . . . some cutout windows show the various colors of the product. I need to match the perspective of a photo, so as to avoid having to change the design of the package itself, along with the graphics. Much easier to do in 3D than in real-world photography.

The image below demonstrates the progression so far. Thing is, this package needs print resolution measuring 18 in. x 8 in. (5400 x 2400 pixels). So with our hardware specs & usage for other projects, I'm hard-pressed to render this bad boy.

Let me know if you'll be able to help me out on this LOTRJ, and then we'll talk about file transfers & timetables.

Thanks!

Cool, thanks LOTRJ!

I'll definitely get the scene finished and sent over to you by the 7th at the latest.

Speaking of scenes, what format would you prefer? Should I make the exported .igi along with textures available for download or e-mail a packed .blend file for you to export yourself?

Let me know what other issues, if any, we need to figure out.

Thanks again!

Sending me a pre-exported .igs with textures would probably be best. Then I could just unpack everything into my Indigo directory and start the render! Be sure you have save .igi turned on if you want to mess with the tone mapping afterwards, I'll send you both the raw .png and the .igi.

BTW, set the number of threads to use to 2 when exporting.

[Edit] Also, make sure all of the textures work so long as they're in the same directory as the .igs itself.

Well Cire, looks like you have 1 more day to get things ready. Turns out I'll be gone from the 9th to the 16th, not the 8th to the 16th like I thought. (Wednesday to Wednesday.)

[Edit] I don't mind starting it if you do have it ready...

Cool. I planned to have something for you shortly, and probably still will. But the extra time may allow for a little more detailing.

If I get the scene over to you before the day is out and the render gets started, the extra time may allow for quality control . . . if you notice any problems with the render we'll have time to work it out.

Thanks again, and I'll be in touch.

Hey, LOTRJ. I'm about ready to upload the files for you to grab.

Couple of issues:

1. When I try to render the full resolution image, indigo crashes . . . hopefully this doesn't happen on your system.

2. When I exported the scene without Autorun turned on in Blendigo, it was rendered with one thread although it was set to use two. So if possible, please change the setting in the IGI file if necessary.

I'll PM you when the files are all ready to be downloaded. Thanks.

BTW: You only need the IGS and all texture files, right?
