Big Blendigo Trouble. Help!

Post by BbB » Thu Mar 22, 2007 9:14 pm

Something weird is happening to my export script. When selecting a texture in the interface, it takes longer and longer for the script to load the thumbnails. Today, it simply refuses to work and friezes Blender completely and turns my computer into a snail. It's happening on both of the two computers where I have it installed. I was wondering if anyone had that problem, and if it was possible to disable the thumbnail interface and just get access to the lists in folders...

I just changed ImageSelector to FileSelector everywhere in code. I can post it here it here if you want. Or make it self, it's in the lines 847, 849, 851, 853

I'll try now. Did you encounter this problem too?

Could you please post it? I'm not too comfortable with Python, yet.

The Image display is soooo annoying because it takes ages. Can anybody tell me why that is? Even loading all the image files and calculating a thumbnail for them should only take about 1% of the time....

ok. here is it! ImageSelector changed to FileSelector for better performance.
Just extract it to your blender scripts directory

I've done the adjustments you suggested and it works much better.

MrCarnivore: No need to be fluent in Python, you can just grab the script in a text editor, search for ImageSelector and replace it (just four times in the script).

Hi BbB, and others :wink:
Thumbnails are funny nice but somehow very slow (it's a blender-python fault :wink: lol ) - if everyone likes more the FileSelector i can change this by default :twisted: ... or could you change the thread to a vote ?

I don't actually think there is much to vote about. The image preview takes about ten times longer than the time to open an explorer, click on every single image, view it for 10 seconds and then take another minute to really think about which one you want, memorize the filename, select it in the file selector in blendigo, recheck if you really got the right filename and then click ok.

;-)

No, seriously, I don't think anyone would really vote for keeping the image preview...

@zuegs....

change it to file selector. definitely. maybe have an extra little button next to the file selector button to open the image selector instead, in case somebody REALLY wants to use it.

Zuegs, I must say your exporter changed the way I approach Indigo. It really is like having Indigo integrated into Blender. I wouldn't dream of using anything else. But the thumbnail used to be a big headache. Using fileselector has made your fantastic tool simply perfect.

I just changed my copy to FileSelector as well. I wasn't having any trouble with it, but I guess I should follow the lead of others on the board who are much wiser than I.
