Blendigo (for Blender 2.63) 3.2.14.0

Post by lycium » Sat Jun 09, 2012 1:00 am

3.2.14.0

DOWNLOADS

ALL PLATFORMS: http://www.indigorenderer.com/dist/expo ... 2.14.0.zip

WINDOWS INSTALLER: http://www.indigorenderer.com/dist/expo ... taller.exe

NOTE: This exporter REQUIRES Blender version 2.63

Changes in this release:
* Added Blender 2.63 support

MANUAL INSTALLATION

Unzip the archive. Move the extracted indigo folder into your Blender addons folder.
You should end up with <blender scripts>/addons/indigo/

Run Blender 2.63, go into User Preferences/Addons, and find the Render section. Locate the Blendigo entry and enable the addon by clicking the little checkbox on the right.

INSTALLATION VIA BLENDER

Run Blender 2.63, go into User Preferences/Addons. Click the "Install Addon" button and choose the blendigo-2.5-3.2.14.0.zip file. The addon will be installed and shown to you, ready for activation.

If you are upgrading, be sure to choose the "Overwrite" option when selecting the .zip file.

You can easily check the installed version in the Addons panel. After upgrading/replacing Blender must be restarted (since the scripts are compiled at startup).

HINTS

Save your User Settings now to make Blendigo activate every time you start Blender 2.63.

Non-windows users will have to also fill in the "Path to Indigo" setting in the "Indigo Render Engine Settings" panel. (Windows does this automatically from the information provided by the installer). Note that you should specify the installation directory (or Indigo.app on OS X) for this setting.

YOUR FEEDBACK IS ALWAYS APPRECIATED

As with the current efforts to get Indigo 3.x as complete and user-friendly as possible, please please keep reporting any issues you find with Blendigo - it is your feedback as users and artists alone that push Blendigo forward into being the software that works for you.

Special thanks to Doug Hammond (dougal2) for his fantastic work on Blendigo as the previous maintainer!

Just noticed with all of these newer Blendigo versions that the sphere primitive is no longer exported when using ".sphere" in the object name. would it be possible to bring this back?

Huge relief that Blendigo is still going strong :)

There are some things that could be quite useful in the future:

- exporting Blender lamps and converting them to spheres or planes with emitting materials
- being able to add specific light types through the Add menu (50w incandescent lightbulb, standard sizes of fluorescent bulbs). These could just be spheres or planes that are dimensioned to spec and come with an emitter materials
- support for orthographic cameras and clipping planes
- material nodes?
- temperature control for light layers
- couple other things that escape me at the moment...

And if exporting could be made a tad faster, I wouldn't complain ;)

I've put an experimental 3.2.14.1 release online, which should hopefully export ~40% faster for large meshes. I'd appreciate any performance numbers, as they'll be useful for future optimisations!

Other improvements are being worked on, however this might already be helpful to those awesome users who are making high-detail Blender scenes 8)

Blender 2.63a
Blendigo 3.2.14.0
Indigo 3.2.13

(Same problem with Blender 2.62, Blendigo 3.2.12.0 and Indigo 3.2.13)

I've found a problem with Motion Blur. My setup is quite simple... Only letters movements along 1 axis (y)...

With motion Blur

hey Lycium, I've been having trouble using the "skip writing existing meshes" in this latest version.
it always give me this error on export:

Code: Select all

'Mesh' object has no attribute 'faces'
it was working very well previously, and it was a big help when you're making tweaks to a scene but not changing the geometry.

Thanks for reporting, I think it may have been a packaging / distribution (installer etc) issue... still learning a lot here about the Blendigo package!
