Hi all,
I am evaluating Indigo for rendering glass material images.
When I render the "dispersion_test.igs" file, in 800x600 with 580 samples per pixel, I get a lot of bright coloured dots in the glass prism. I think this may be caused by multiple bounce light paths which are not well sampled. I get this result after 580 samples per pixels and the number of visible dots is increasing over time, even if they become slightly less visible. But I have the feeling it will require to wait maybe 100x times more before the dots turn to an acceptable noise.
What could I do to better render this scene?
I am working for a glass company and we consider using Indigo to preview the glass look from the composition of the glass.
Thanks for any help!
Best regards,
Etienne

Re: Trouble rendering dispersion_test
Dear all,
I have figured it out... MLT was not enabled
The metropolis flag is said to be "true" in the documentation, but the default infile.xml sets it to false in the current installer. So I thought it was enabled and it was not... Clearly this is the case where MLT shines.
You should not put example scenes which render with such ugly artifacts without tweaking them! I am evaluating the renderer for a purchase and this was clearly disappointing.
What do you recommend as best settings to render this scene? Just turn MLT on and let the other parameters to default?

I agree with you about the renderer settings galinette. Rendering strategies are left to the forum user, here and there.
